MIRI: A total of eight households affected by the Jalan Pujut Corner fire incident will be displaced to Kampung Lusut, Lambir, as the state government has recently approved and endorsed residential lots in the area.

The fire on April 23 razed nine wooden houses and left 66 people from 15 households homeless.

The presentation of the residential lots was held today (May 1) at the Piasau Boat Club (PBC) in Miri during the Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) Miri branch Raya Open House.

Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who is also the Minister for International Trade, Industry, and Investment, presided over the event.

The eight households whose houses were among those destroyed in the fire incident were found in the Land and Survey department Miri Divisional office’s census records in 2019.

The households include Buding Andrew, Nawan Agup, Thomas Luming, Patu Banang, Chaong Taboh, Gibs Basong, Lily Benang, and Elizabeth Kusnadi.

Also present during the event were Minister for Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Development I (Women and Childhood Development) Datuk Rosey Yunus, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development II (Entrepreneur Development) Dr Ripin Lamat, International Trade and Investment Ministry advisor Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Miri MP Chiew Choon Man, Pujut Assemblyman cum Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, Deputy Mayor Ariffin Mohamad, and DUBS Miri chairman Mohammad Hafidz Rohani.
