ENGKILILI: If the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition succeeds in winning the Engkilili seat from the opposition in the coming state election, it would bring development to the constituency.
Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis hoped the support voiced by the Tuai Rumah (TRs) would bear fruit in seizing the seat.
“I believe the TRs had matured in politics and know only GPS can develop an area with large allocations,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the ‘Info On Wheels’ (IOW) programme held by the Sri Aman Information Department at Rumah (Rh) Entebang Melayang, Nanga Belaie, Ulu Skrang on Saturday.
The programme invited residents from several longhouses in the Ulu Skrang area to familiarise themselves with the role of government agencies and to provide the opportunity for TRs to raise problems and issues that need to be resolved.
Harden, who is also the Community Wellbeing Assistant Minister, further said that GPS government’s development policy prioritises the people of Sarawak especially in rural areas.
“Road construction and electricity and water supply facilities are basic necessities that have been enjoyed by villagers.
“Apart from that, the state government through the Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development (KWKPK) has introduced a lot of initiatives such as the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) and Endowment Fund Sarawak (EFS),” he said.
The same event also witnessed Harden presenting an allocation of RM5,000 each to eight village development and security committees (JKKKs) of Nanga Belaie and RM3,000 to its respective Women Bureau. Each JKKK also received an allocation of RM3,000.
They were Rh Entebang, Nanga Belaie; Rh Velly, Sungai Pinang; Rh Bandang, Pinchoh; Rh Billy, Murat; Rh Mulok, Kujoh; Rh Unya, Jambu Lalang; Rh Peter Igoh, Nanga Mujan; and Rh Jelanie, Nanga Darai.
