KUCHING: Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni took time after his Christmas visits to assess the flood situation in Kampung Bulau, Miri.

During his visit via Jalan Tiris, he noted that floodwaters in Kampung Bulau remain high, leaving three villages – Mutap, Sinop, and Bulau – without electricity.

“Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) is still working to repair power lines after one of the poles broke,” he said in a Facebook post today (Dec 26).

The Sibuti MP added the Social Welfare Department (JKM) has distributed food supplies, and the Civil Defence Force along with the Disaster Operations Room of the Subis District Office are closely monitoring the flood situation.

“In the Tiris area, floodwaters have receded while schools remain unaffected due to the holiday season.

“However, residents are concerned about the safety of their belongings, such as vehicles parked in elevated areas, fearing they may be stolen.

“We pray that the river levels will recede and that the flood situation in Kampung Bulau will improve soon,” he said.
