KUCHING: Sarawak Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will remain strong despite the resignation of its chairman Larry Sng, said deputy chairman Abang Zulkifli Abang Engkeh.

“The programme to strengthen the machinery in each area is running as usual. At the same, we are intensifying the movement of caring for people and it remains a routine for the leadership and members of the party,” he said in a Facebook post last Sunday.

“In the past two months, our grassroots have assisted the people and distributed food aid to more than 3,000 families throughout Sarawak and more than 10,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) were distributed to frontliners statewide.”

On Sng’s resignation, Abang Zulkifli said it was not a surprise although it was disappointing as Sng had expressed his intention to resign two months ago.

“I urge party members not to be upset, but to continue to strengthen the party at all levels.

“Leaders come and go, and this is one of the small challenges in the political world.

“We, the Sarawak PKR leadership, will continue to stand firm with president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the national party.

Last Sunday, Sng, who is also Julau MP, quit PKR and switched his allegiance to the Perikatan Nasional government.

Sng said his decision to quit the party was to deliver his election promise to serve his constituents.
