LONG LAMA: People who went to places that were visited by Covid-19 positive cases are advised to contact the health authorities to undergo swab test.
Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said, this is important to prevent the virus from further spreading.
He gave the advice following one positive Covid-19 case detected in the area (Telang Usan) recently.
Last Monday, the State Disaster Management Commitee (SDMC) disclosed that one positive Covid-19 case was detected in Telang Usan from the Rakut cluster.
“Please go immediately for swab test and do self-quarantine,” Dennis advised his constituents.
He observed that the covid-19 virus was spreading swiftly in the Miri Division because there were asymptomatic cases who were in denial of did not care (tidak apa) attitude.
“This should not happen. Everyone should take this Covid-19 pandemic seriously,” he said.
He also reminded his constituents not to hold any event that involved massive gathering.
“Couples who have set their engagement or wedding in the first half of the year should postpone it or if really can’t and must have it, then do it privately with the presence of parents, siblings and authorised church agents only.
“Later, if the situation permits, then do a big celebration. We have to change a bit of our lifestyle now to stay safe,” he said.
For teachers, schools staff and their families who need to go back for the school’s reopening in his constituency and Ulu Baram, Dennis urged them to be 100 percent sure they were free from Covid-19 before going to their respective place of work.
Meanwhile, to those who want to travel from Lawas and Limbang to Miri and vice versa through Long Lama, Dennis urged them to refrain or temporarily stop their plan for now until further notice as the authority had set up a road block at Long Lama town to prevent such movement.
