KABONG: Kampung Simpang Empat Kabong here has been declared a dengue prone area following two cases within 14 days there.
The district’s Dengue Fever Outbreak Committee discussed measures to be taken together with related agencies during a meeting chaired by Kabong District Officer Tahir Mohd Share.
He called on the Saratok District Council (MDS) to carry out gotong royong activities with the villagers immediately to curb its spread.
District Health Officer Dr Abdul Mualim Shah, meanwhile stressed that Aedes mosquito breeding grounds must be destroyed.
“Destruction of Aedes mosquito breeding grounds is the most effective way to control dengue fever,” he said at the meeting.
In the meantime, Assistant Environmental Health Officer Mohamad Buhaiqi Madi urged residents who are experiencing signs and symptoms of dengue fever to immediately seek treatment.
“They can also carry out self-inspection in their homes by ensuring there are no stagnant water containers, which can be a breeding ground for Aedes mosquitoes.
“Garbage should also be thrown in the right place, so that an epidemic can be avoided,” he said, calling on the public’s cooperation when mosquito fogging is carried out.
