DARO: The Batang Lassa Bridge is expected to open to the public within the next two to three days following its pre-launch ceremony.

Dari Assemblyman, Safiee Ahmad, announced that the project is fully completed but experienced delays due to the connection of the electricity supply by SESCO.

“The pre-launch ceremony was originally scheduled for December 31 but was postponed as the electrical connection had not been completed. Now that the work is done, the bridge is ready for use at any time,” he said.

He also stated that the pre-launch is still awaiting confirmation from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD).

“The official launch is scheduled to take place on February 22 and will be officiated by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.”

According to Safiee, the opening of this bridge will significantly impact Daro’s economic development, particularly in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.

“This bridge is not only an important connector but also a symbol of the Sarawak Government’s (GPS) commitment to ensuring the development benefits the people,” he added.

Residents are increasingly excited by the beauty of the neon lights adorning the bridge at night, as shared by Sarawak PBB Youth Movement Exco, Mohd Faizal Jamiludin, on his Facebook page.

The Batang Lassa Bridge, spanning 2.43 kilometres, is the second-longest river-crossing bridge in Sarawak.

This RM600 million project demonstrates the government’s commitment to executing mega projects for the state’s progress.
