KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) is dedicated to transforming Kuching North into a sustainable and competitive city, enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

According to DBKU mayor Datuk Hilmy Othman, the commission remains firmly aligned with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030), the Sarawak government’s primary framework for achieving sustainable and inclusive growth.

“Through PCDS 2030, Kuching North will continue to strengthen infrastructure, improve public services, and foster inclusive economic growth. At the same time, we are committed to environmental sustainability, ensuring that all development aligns with sustainable principles,” he said in his New Year 2025 message.

Hilmy praised the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for his support in advancing development across infrastructure, economy, social welfare and education in Kuching North.

He also acknowledged Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunications Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who oversees DBKU, as well as the area’s assemblyman and MPs, for their contributions.

“These efforts not only enhance the quality of life for residents but also position Kuching North as a progressive, competitive, and people-friendly city,” he added.

Looking ahead to 2025, Hilmy highlighted DBKU’s mission to ensure balanced progress across social, economic and environmental sectors. While reflecting on the achievements of the past year, he stressed the need to maintain momentum and continue moving forward.

He called on Kuching North residents to support DBKU’s initiatives, emphasising the importance of collective effort in achieving the city’s goals.
“With strong cooperation and commitment, we can make Kuching North a city that is not only comfortable to live in but also competitive at both national and global levels,” he said.

As part of its vision for 2025, DBKU will prioritise modern infrastructure, inclusivity for children and the elderly, and sustainable economic growth. Key focus areas include digital development, the green economy and improving community well-being through high-quality public facilities.
