KUCHING: The Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) has captured four stray dogs in Kampung Buntal following public complaints of dog attacks and bites in the village.
In their official Facebook page, DBKU assured the public that they are committed to tackling the stray dog issue.
“Following feedback from residents regarding stray dog attacks and bites in Kampung Buntal, our dog-catching team took immediate action.
“As a result, four stray dogs were captured during the operation on Wednesday (Apr 2),” the city hall said.
DBKU pointed out that these dog-catching operations are crucial in reducing the risk of dog bites, preventing the spread of rabies, and ensuring the safety of residents.
The city hall also reaffirmed its proactive stance in controlling the stray dog population, focusing on hotspot areas identified through public reports and patrols by its Environmental Health Division.
“Last year alone, 1,282 stray dogs were captured, averaging 107 per month.
“In the first three months of 2025, 282 dogs have already been caught — an average of 94 per month,” DBKU said.
The city hall expressed its gratitude to Kuching residents for their vigilance and assured that all reports would be promptly investigated and acted upon.
It is understood that at least four people were attacked and bitten by stray dogs in Kampung Buntal and Kampung Sungai Lumut.
The injured have since received treatment for their wounds.
