DALAT: Dalat will soon be home to a Serao Gallery, with an allocated budget of RM750,000, as part of the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2024.
Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the gallery will be constructed on the grounds of an old school building in Kampung Tanam.
“This location was chosen due to its proximity to several fascinating attractions, such as traditional sago houses, a church, and river banks.
“The gallery is poised to transform into a must-visit destination for tourists exploring Dalat,” she said during a Christmas celebration at the Kampung Tanam Multipurpose Hall yesterday (Dec 27).
She revealed that the gallery will serve dual purposes. One section will be dedicated to showcasing information about Serao, featuring local handicrafts and their production. Simultaneously, another section will function as a business and shop area.
“With the establishment of this gallery, we anticipate a significant transformation in the landscape of Kampung Tanam and Dalat as a whole.”
Fatimah also highlighted forthcoming developments in Dalat for the year 2024, including initiatives by the Rajang Delta Development Agency.
