Daiken Sarawak donates wood shavings to Bomba for oil spill prevention

BINTULU: As an effort to support public safety, Daiken Sarawak Sdn Bhd, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, handed over 22 sacks of wood shavings to the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Bintulu Zone on Thursday.

The handover was officiated by the operations director and factory manager of Daiken Sarawak Sdn Bhd, Edward Lim Su Bang; to the Bintulu Bomba chief, Fire Superintendent I Christus Buson, at the Bintulu Fire Station compound. The event was witnessed by Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming.

Pang praised the initiative as a proactive step in assisting the fire department in handling oil spills on the roads.

“Wood shavings are highly effective in absorbing oil spills and help reduce the risk of accidents.

“The contribution from Daiken Sarawak Sdn Bhd is very meaningful and will greatly benefit road users’ safety in Bintulu,” he said.

He also expressed hope that more corporate companies would follow the company’s example in fulfilling their social responsibility to the community.

“Such contributions not only enhance the effectiveness of fire department operations but also demonstrate the importance of collaboration between the private sector and government agencies in ensuring community welfare,” he added.

Meanwhile, Christus welcomed the donation, stating that the material would be fully utilised in emergency operations related to oil spills and in improving road safety.
