KUCHING: The Sarawak Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) is prepared to assist the Sarawak government, especially in matters related to petroleum.

Newly appointed director of Sarawak JKDM, Norizan Yahya said this when met by reporters after a courtesy visit by the department’s delegation to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya on Thursday.

The visit was his first courtesy call on the Premier since being appointed to the position.

He added that the department will assist with import and export processes and procedures to support petroleum management, which is overseen by the Sarawak government.

Meanwhile, he also said that Sarawak JKDM will also help to facilitate the affairs of athletes and officials for the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and Para SUKMA in Sarawak, which will be held soon.

According to Norizan, it is JKDM’s responsibility to process the goods and luggage of athletes as the department oversees the state’s entry points.
