BINTULU: A large-scale enforcement operation by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Bintulu Branch has led to the inspection of 2,730 premises under the 2025 Hari Raya Price Control Scheme (SHMMP).
As of March 27, authorities recorded 29 cases with goods seized worth RM420,741, while compound fines exceeded RM3,800.

Bintulu KPDN head, Al-Redzamani Abdul Razak, said enforcement teams had been mobilised across the division, including Tatau and Sebauh districts, to ensure traders comply with regulated pricing and maintain sufficient stock of essential goods throughout the festive period.
“Our officers have been monitoring public markets, farmers’ markets, and shopping centres for any pricing violations and consumer complaints,” he said in a statement on Friday.
He emphasised that strict legal action would be taken under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 against any offenders found violating the regulations.
Running from March 24 to April 7, the 2025 SHMMP imposes price controls on 22 essential items, including imported beef, mackerel, red onions, red chillies, imported ginger, and coconut milk.
Consumers are encouraged to report price violations through WhatsApp (019-8488000), email (e-aduan@kpdn.gov.my), Call Centre (1-800-886-800), or the Ez ADU KPDN mobile app.
“Public cooperation is crucial in ensuring a fair and ethical business environment,” Al-Redzamani added.
The initiative aims to curb price manipulation and stabilise costs, easing the financial burden on consumers as they prepare for Hari Raya celebrations.
