SIBU: A non-governmental organisation (NGO) named the Sibu Covid-19 Survivor Support Group was established to provide motivational support for former Covid-19 patients and their families here.

Local Government and Housing Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said the group was also established to ensure that the Covid-19 survivors would not feel excluded and looked down upon by the community.

Apart from that, survivors could share their experiences with each other on matters such as how to overcome mental fatigue in the face of the pandemic.

“The establishment of the NGO was timely to provide such support. The support group comprises volunteers, health staff, psychologists and Covid-19 survivors,” he said.

Dr Annuar, who is also the Nangka assemblyman, further informed that Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah suggested the importance of forming support groups.

Therefore, he encouraged the survivors to come and join the newly established group by filling out a form that will be available online soon.

“We will also try to help in terms of welfare,” he said.
