KUCHING: Sarawak’s COVID-19 figures increased by 902 to 1,867 new cases on today, compared to Monday’s 965 cases.
This brings the cumulative cases recorded in the state to 281,463.
In its daily update the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said six cases were recorded in Category 3, nine cases in Category 4, and three cases were recorded in Category 5.
Aside from that, a total of 581 cases were in Categories 1 and 1,268 in Category 2.
“Kuching topped the list with 812 cases, followed by Sibu with 167, Miri with 160, Bintulu with 158 and 103 cases in Serian.
“Kota Samarahan recorded 92 cases; 49 each in Sarikei and Sri Aman; Bau (41); Limbang (33); Betong (24); Saratok (20); Subis (15); Mukah (12); and 11 each in Dalat and Lawas.
“Ten cases were recorded in Kabong; nine each in Matu and Lundu; Asajaya (eight); seven each in Pakan, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Meradong and Selangau; six each in Marudi, Julau and Tebedu; Pusa (five); four each in Tatau, Kanowit and Beluru; Daro (two); and one each in Sebauh and Telang Usan,” the committee said.
SDMC also disclosed that there were two COVID-19 fatalities.
In Mukah, a 65-year-old man was brought in dead to Sibu Hospital on Mar 11. The victim did not have any history of disease.
In Kota Samarahan, another 65-year-old man who passed away in Sarawak General Hospital, had high blood pressure and lung disease.
Apart from that, the committee revealed that the Lorong Siol Kandis Cluster in Kuching had ended and that there were only five remaining clusters.
In addition, there were 11 new additional cases reported from the DTI Semuja Cluster yesterday.
For non-compliance to the standard operating procedures, Kuching police also issued a total of 12 compounds for failing to register the MySejahtera when entering a premises, bringing the total number of compounds issued by Sarawak police to 13,609.
