BINTULU: Construction works on a community park in Sungai Jatan,Tatau has been slightly delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and recent flood, said Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) Datuk John Sikie Tayai.

He said Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) and the project contractor would discuss how to speed up the construction work following the delay.

“Currently, 30 percent of the construction work has been completed, compared to the initial target of 56.21 percent,” he explained.

Sikie said the project started in March last year and was supposed to complete in June this year but was disrupted by the movement control order (MCO) implemented to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

Once completed, the park would be the first community park in Tatau.

Sikie said many other projects have been approved in the district (Tatau) such as roads upgrading, the Tatau riverfront and the sports complex.

“The allocation has been approved and we are hoping that these projects will start this year,” he said.
