SIBU: A couple was arrested on suspicion of being involved in drug-related activities in a house at Lorong RTM here last Friday (Oct 16).
According to Sarawak Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) chief ACP Jasmirol Jamaluddin, the couple was arrested in a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle in the garage at 8.20pm during a raid on the house.
“Inspections were made and the team seized 890.57g of ketamine, 2.80g of Erimin 5 pills and 65 Ecstasy pills (30.3g) worth RM45,720.
“Apart from that, the team also confiscated RM6,426 cash, the 4WD vehicle worth RM40,000, a necklace, a bracelet, and three gold rings with a total confiscation value of RM63,246,” he said in a statement.
The couple, aged 29 and 34, who did not have previous criminal records, were taken to Sibu NCID office for further action.
He added that one of the suspects was tested positive for drugs.
Both individuals are remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a life sentence and not less than 15 strokes of the cane or death sentence, if convicted.
