Council approves 10 locations for Ramadan bazaars

MIRI: The Miri City Council has so far approved 10 locations to accommodate 570 stalls for the upcoming Ramadan Bazaars this year.

The 10 locations are Indoor Stadium (158 stalls); New World Mart Lutong carpark (35 stalls); Medan Saberkas (195 stalls); Masjid Darul Ridzuan Kem Sri Miri compound (10 stalls); Bintang Megamall front entrance (10 stalls); Permy Mall carpark (40 stalls); Emart Riam Miri carpark (10 stalls); Surau Al-Hidayah Tab Cinaq (16 stalls); Myy Mall Lutong carpark (56 stalls) and Pujut 7 Commercial Centre (40 stalls).

The council urged all operators of food and drink stalls to exert a high level of hygiene and abide to public health requirements during the process of preparing their food and drinks.

“Likewise, they should comply with the necessary requirements as laid down by the council for handling of their sales items.

“The council’s enforcement personnel together with officers from the health authority will conduct random checking and inspection to Ramadan Bazaars,” it said in a statement yesterday.

In addition to this, the council emphasised that all food on sale at Ramadan Bazaars should be halal.
