KUCHING: Police seized drugs worth RM7,650 in the district here last Tuesday (Feb 13).
According to Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah, the recent raid under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old local male.
“The raid conducted by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) at approximately 3.15 pm led to the seizure of 38.25gm of suspected syabu at Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub Road here.
“The suspect, with a history of three previous drug-related offences, tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. He has been remanded for six days, until Feb 20,” Ahsmon said.
Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries severe penalties, including life imprisonment or a minimum of five years’ imprisonment and not less than 10 strokes of the cane.
