Cops provide immediate assistance at accident scene

MIRI: A routine traffic enforcement operation turned into a swift rescue effort when police officers arrived at the scene of an accident in Jalan Lusut Jaya 5C here on Saturday morning.

At approximately 11.30 am, a Perodua Viva carrying a family of three skidded off the road and overturned while en route from Bintulu to Taman Tunku here.

The vehicle was found resting on its side at a bend along the road.

Fortunately, officers from the Miri District Police Headquarters’ Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division were patrolling nearby as part of ‘Op Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2025’ when they encountered the accident.

The team, led by senior police officer Inspector G. Visvanathan, immediately stopped to render assistance.

Traffic officers worked swiftly to help the occupants exit the overturned vehicle and ensured that all three individuals were unharmed, with no serious injuries reported.

The family members later made their way home with help from relatives.

Police advised those involved to file an official accident report and undergo a precautionary medical check-up at the hospital.
