KOTA SAMARAHAN: The physical construction of Petra Jaya Hospital is progressing on schedule, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Fadillah, who is also the Petra Jaya MP, said that the current efforts concentrated on procuring equipment and utilities to prepare for operations.
“So far, everything is on schedule. However, the procurement of equipment can only begin once construction is completed and the physical construction is on track,” he said.
He highlighted that the hospital’s development involves three components: physical construction, procurement of equipment, and operational readiness.
“The operational phase will depend on the availability of specialists, doctors, and other necessary resources,” he added.
He said this when asked on the current progress of the hospital during a press conference after chairing the project implementation meeting at RISDA office here today.
According to earlier reports, the Petra Jaya Hospital project has exceeded 80 per cent completion and is on schedule to be finished by the third quarter of 2025.
The project started in 2013 and was previously set to be completed in November 2016.
However, the project faced several delays and was categorised as a sick project after the previous contractor failed to complete it on schedule.
In 2020, Blackfox Engineering Sdn Bhd was appointed as the new contractor for the RM410.3 million project, replacing the previous contractor.
On other matters particularly on border facility project, Fadillah confirmed that discussions during the meeting did not cover border facility projects.
“These projects are being handled by a dedicated task force specifically addressing their implementation. The meeting we had is to focus on projects approved under various Malaysia Plans,” he said.
