KUCHING: The ‘Konsert Rakyat’ held in conjunction with the 60th Anniversary of Sarawak Independence Day which will take place on July 22 at Padang Merdeka Kuching here, will feature popular Indonesian rock band Ungu.

According to a statement by Sarawak Art Council (SAC), the concert will start at around 7 pm.

“Additionally, the concert will also involve popular Malaysian artistes such as Datuk Awie, Dolla and Floor 88.

“Meanwhile, among the local artistes from Sarawak who will also be performing are Masterpiece, Firdaus Materang, Bob Yunus, Elizabeth Paya, Ng Chien Chien, Ramles Walter and Carrie Geres,” it said.

At the same time, the crowd will also be entertained with contemporary and Hip-hop dances such as “La Dance and KiNate Fam, and followed by a display of fireworks.

“SAC hopes that the concert in conjunction with the 60th Anniversary of Sarawak Independence Day will give a meaningful impact apart from entertaining Sarawakians,” the statement added.

The minister responsible for Sarawak’s 60th Anniversary celebration is Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Meanwhile, the minister responsible for the concert is Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
