KUCHING: Police have issued 31 compounds to errant individuals for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the movement control order (MCO) on Friday (June 18).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Kuching recorded the most compounds with nine, followed by Bintulu (seven), Sibu (seven), Miri (two), Kota Samarahan (two), Padawan (two), Dalat (one), and Kapit (one).

“The violations include being out in a public beyond past curfew without reasonable excuse (13); travelling between districts without a permit (three); opening premises that are prohibited from operating (three); failing to update the customer logbook (three); failing to scan the MySejahtera application when entering premises (two); fishing in public (two); violating the vehicle passenger limit (two); employer fails to ensure 30 percent attendance capacity for the private sector (one); failing to wear a face mask (one); and dining in (one).

“This brings the total amount of compounds issued since Mar 18 last year to 7,953,” the committee said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing has issued 11 compounds to business operators of premises under the supervision of various local councils.

Four compounds issued under Bau District Council, followed by two compounds under Miri City Council and one compound each under Bintulu Development Authority (BDA), Sibu Rural District Council, Sarikei District Council, Meradong and Julau District Council, and Lundu District Council.

SDMC added that the businesses were violating SOPs such as failing to update the customer logbooks (five); failing to wear face masks (two); operating beyond the allowed time (one); operating without permission (one); allowing customers to dine in (one); and not having any inter-district travel permit (one).

This brings the total amount of compounds issued by local authorities since Feb 1 this year to 1,110.
