KUCHING: Residents in the Padawan municipal council (MPP) areas are urged to continue maintaining the highest hygiene as well as adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Its chairman Lo Khere Chiang issued the reminder because of the detection of new Covid-19 cases in Kuching since Friday (July 10).

“Two new positive cases were reported last Friday and the next day (Saturday), one death and two more cases were reported.

“On Sunday (July 12), another two new cases were reported and a new cluster — the Kuching Engineering Company Cluster — has been identified,” he said when met by reporters after attending a dinner with two hawker associations, Kuching South and Third Mile, at The New Chef’s Restaurant here on Sunday night.

Lo, who is also the Batu Kitang assemblyman, said adhering to the SOPs was important.

“We do not want to have another lockdown in the state again. Sarawakians really do not want another movement control order (MCO) be imposed again.

“If imposed, it can really bring down our economy. Therefore, we must be vigilant,” he added.
