KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat is pleased that the access road from the junction of Jalan Ulu Sungai Yong to Rumah Rolland Banggau had been constructed and was completed early last year.

“In my constituency, Sungai Tiasa is the first pioneer project for the Tagang system or river conservation programme to increase the stock of marine lives include frog, indigenous fishes such as Ikan Empurau, Ikan Semah and other local fishes,” he said.

He added that the access road had enabled the Fishery Department Kapit to work very closely with the Village Development and Security Community (JKKK) of Rumah Rolland Banggau to frequently supervise and monitor the progress of the Tagang system.

“This is the first project in my constituency and later, I would recommend such preservation programme along other rivers,” said Jamit.

He was interviewed recently after inspecting the gravel filled earth road upgrading project along longhouse access road (Jalan Hubung Desa) to Rumah Rolland Banggau, Sungai Tiasa, Yong at the hinterland of Kapit.

The RM250,000.00 road surface upgrading project under Jamit’s Rural Transformation Project (RTP) was completed recently.

“This access road is important to link the folks of Rumah Banggau at ulu Sungai Tiasa, a tributary of Sungai Yong. It benefits about 30 families,” said the assemblyman.

Accompanying him on the site inspection were Ambrose Abong Bugek, an   assistant of Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, and the staff of GPS-PBB Bukit Goram Services Centre, Douglas Jamit and Cochran Alwi.
