KUCHING: The Sarawak Open International Dragon & Lion Dance Cup 2024 is set to captivate enthusiasts at Stadium Perpaduan, here this October 26 and 27.
Organised by the Chinese Martial Art Association (CMAA), its president and organising chairman, Chester Lim said that the event promises an exciting weekend with free admission for all spectators.
“All are welcome to watch the dragon and lion dance competition and admission is free,” he said in a press statement on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Kapitan Tan Kun Gee who is the Association advisor and Competition chairman, said the Sarawak Open International Dragon & Lion Dance Cup 2024 with the full support of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry & Performing Arts has attracted some 45 teams from West Malaysia, Sarawak & Sabah, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and China.
“On October 26, the Northern Lion Dance category will kick off at 11 am, followed by the High Pole Southern Lion Dance at 1 pm. The highlight of the day, the Luminous Dragon Dance, will begin after the opening ceremony at 6.45 pm.
“The next day, the Traditional Southern Lion Dance will start at 9 am and conclude with a prize ceremony in the evening.
“The event promises to be a grand showcase of skill and tradition for both participants and spectators,” he said.
