MUKAH: Community leaders in Tellian and Balingian constituencies received their certificates of appointment here on Tuesday.
The recipients comprised penghulu, ketua kaum, tuai rumah and kapitan, who were either reappointed or newly appointed.
Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo and Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi handed over the certificates to them at a ceremony held at Menara Pehin Setia Raja here.
Community leaders from Tamin and Kakus constituencies also received their certificates of appointment from the two representatives.

In his opening speech, administrative officer Ismail Kasah briefed the community leaders on their roles as grassroot leaders, and the role of village development and secutiy committees (JKKKs) in their respective areas.
He said the JKKK were implemented in Sarawak by the state government in 1987 to complement the roles of Resident and District Offices in administrating the local communities.
Ismail was representing Mukah Division Resident Hamdiah Bakir at the function.
Acting Mukah District Officer Pleadzman Ahip, administrative officer Alicesia Was who represented Dalat District Officer, Temenggong Hendi Suhai and Pemanca Mohamad Jali Kawi also attended the event.
