MIRI: State Transport Minister, Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to fostering a harmonious, united, and compassionate society.

Speaking at an aid delivery programme and Chinese New Year luncheon organised by RedFM Sarawak in collaboration with the Miri Life Care Society, he highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in achieving this vision.

“Building a harmonious and united society is not merely a vision but a shared responsibility that requires the active participation of every individual,” said Lee.

He commended charitable organisations for their efforts in reaching out to the less fortunate, particularly during festive seasons, which he described as a reflection of society’s spirit of selfless sacrifice.

“Every festive season, we see many charities organising activities to bring attention and warmth to the less fortunate. These acts of kindness embody the essence of compassion and selflessness that define our community,” he said.

Lee emphasised the role of able-bodied individuals in extending support to those in need, stating that acts of kindness not only alleviate difficulties but also instil warmth and hope.

“I would like to thank all those involved in organising this meaningful event. Your efforts have brought comfort to those in need and serve as a shining example to others,” he said.

Lee also called on media outlets to amplify stories of charitable initiatives, encouraging greater public awareness and participation in community contributions.

“By sharing these stories, the media can inspire more individuals to do good, raising awareness and support for those in need, and ultimately spreading hope,” he pointed out .
