KUCHING: The patience of a man finally ran out when he punched his colleague who frequently gossiped and spoke ill of him in front of others.

However, both colleagues were ordered by the Magistrates’ Court to fulfil a six-month good behaviour bond starting Friday (Jan 24).

Mohamad Arbi Abdul Razak, 33, and Mohd Hafizul Nizam Mansoor, 31, both nodded in understanding as the charge under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code was read to them.

According to the facts of the case, on Jan 17 at around 10.30am at the Podium Kuching area, Hafizul repeatedly punched Arbi’s face and kicked him in the stomach.

As a result of the incident, Arbi sustained a cut on his left eyebrow and leg pain.

The actions of both individuals were reported to the police for further action.

Investigations revealed that Hafizul admitted to assaulting Arbi due to his constant slander and tarnishing of Hafizul’s reputation among colleagues.

The cause of the incident was not related to the use of a laptop in their office but rather Hafizul’s frustration with Arbi’s jealousy and resentment over his higher car sales performance.

Furthermore, statements from other witnesses supported the claim that Arbi frequently spoke negatively about his colleagues, including Hafizul.

To prevent a recurrence of such incidents, Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan ordered both accused to enter into a six-month good behaviour bond with a surety of RM500 without a deposit and one guarantor.
