SIBU: Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) senior vice president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh hopes that newly appointed Resident of Sibu and the District Officers of Sibu and Selangau can collaborate with the party to further develop the town.

He said that the town residents have high expectations to the people representatives, government officials, and community leaders to serve them effectively.

Therefore, he said it is importance for all relevant parties to work together to meet these expectations.

“Let us all work together. We are here to serve the people, and we must fulfil our duties and responsibilities to the best of our abilities,” said the Bawang Assan assemblyman.

Wong said this during a welcoming dinner for the newly appointed Sibu Division Resident Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman, along with the new Sibu district officer Wee Teck Min, and Selangau district officer Yalin Asan.

The event organised by PDP Central Region was held at a prominent hotel on Friday (August 3).

Meanwhile, Abang Mohamad Porkan in his speech, expressed his hope that community leaders and representatives would work collaboratively with him to develop Sibu for the benefit of all.

Earlier, event organising chairman Councillor Datuk Teo Boon Siew in his welcoming speech, said that the event aimed to introduce the Penghulu, Kapitan, and councillors to the newly appointed Abang Mohamad Porkan, Wee, and Yalin.

He said that the gathering was expected to foster cooperation among them to provide the best service to the communities in Sibu and Selangau.

“In Sibu division, PDP has 12 Penghulus and 27 Kapitans. I hope that we can work together to ensure that we can attend to the people’s need,” he said.

Also present were second senior vice president and Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin and PDP central region chairman Datuk Lau Cheng Kiong.
