SELANGAU: Five individuals, including an eight-year-old boy, narrowly escaped death when the vehicle they were in swerved out of control and crashed into a drain along Jalan Stapang here today (Dec 21).
In a statement today (Dec 21), the Fire and Rescue Department said a distress call about the incident was received at 9.08 am and a team of five firefighters was deployed to the scene.
Upon arriving at 9.35 am, four of the victims had already been rescued by members of the public.
“The firefighters rescued one remaining victim, but no Jalan Stapang (RTA) equipment was used as no one was trapped.
“All the victims were handed over to the Selangau Health Clinic for further action,” said the statement.
After ensuring the scene was safe, the firefighters returned to the station at 9.43 am.
