KUCHING: The Leadership Institute of Sarawak Civil Service (LI) is set to relocate its headquarters to a new building by the end of September this year.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Datuk Dr Azhar Ahmad said the new headquarters, located next to the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) in Jalan Sultan Tengah, Rampangi, Santubong, is currently in its internal design stage.
He said the new building will house 63 staff members, while the current headquarters will be returned to its original owner, the Sarawak Agricultural Institute.
“The move is not just about upgrading facilities but also about reinforcing the function and role of LI in enhancing Sarawak’s civil service.
“Our primary mission is to support the state’s development agenda by equipping civil servants with the necessary leadership skills,” he said.
He said this during a courtesy visit to Sarawak Tribune and Suara Sarawak CEO Datuk Dr Jeniri Amir at the latter’s office here Tuesday (March 4).
Azhar added that an inaugural seminar is being planned to mark the opening of the new building, with the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) expected to be involved.
SCOPE, which will also be relocating to the same premises, will be given a dedicated space for its operations.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of media collaboration in strengthening LI’s outreach and dissemination of leadership-related initiatives.
As such, he acknowledged the commitment of Sarawak Tribune and Suara Sarawak in supporting LI’s mission.
“That is why we are here today — to explore collaboration opportunities with the media. This is not just about LI but also about our vision for Sarawak,” he added.
The Leadership Institute of Sarawak Civil Service serves as the state government’s primary training arm, dedicated to enhancing human resource development within the civil service.
Currently located within the Sarawak Agricultural Department compound at Km 20, Jalan Kuching-Serian, Semenggok, the institute collaborates with international institutions to develop leadership programmes for the Sarawak Civil Service, aiming to produce highly skilled civil servants dedicated to delivering excellence in public service.
