KUCHING: A civil servant facing a charge of committing incest with his daughter claimed trial in the Sessions Court here today.
The accused, who worked as a security guard, was accused of raping his 19-year-old daughter at a government flat in Jalan Batu Kawa, in March last year.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge framed under Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code which was read out by an interpreter before Judge Maris Agan.
The charge carries a jail term of not less than eight years and not more than 30 years as well as not less than 10 strokes of the rotan upon conviction.
The court released the accused on bail of RM1,000 with one local surety and set pre-trial case management on March 18.
Deputy public prosecutor Md Syafique Md Hilmie prosecuted the case. The accused was not represented.
