KUCHING: Chin Fu Methodist Church received RM74,300 from the Bandar Kuching Parliament Office to repair and upgrade its multi-purpose rooms and corridors to provide a safe comfortable gathering environment for church members.
MP Kelvin Yii said the church located at Pisang Road has a history of more than 70 years.
“The three multi-purpose rooms and corridors on the second floor of the church have been in a state of disrepair for a long time, especially the floor and ceiling which have been seriously damaged by termites, causing certain safety concerns and urgently needing repair and reconstruction.
“Due to limited funds, recently the church came to me and sought financial assistance. After understanding the situation, my office also agreed to allocate funds to help the church carry out necessary repairs,” he said in his Facebook post today.
He explained that the repair works include removing existing timber hardwood framing, plywood and laminated flooring, repair and replacement of gypsum board ceiling including painting works and realigning affected wiring.
“The repair works are currently in the final stage and I believe they will be completed soon and,” he said.
