KUCHING: Efforts to improve workplace safety culture in Sarawak took another step forward as Chemsain HRD Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Sarawak, successfully concluded the second series of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) coordinator training here.
The three-day programme, under the Industry Continuous Professional Development Programme (iCPD) 2025, aims to equip employees, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), with critical OSH knowledge and certification.
The initiative is part of MEITD’s broader agenda to upskill Sarawak’s workforce and enhance industrial competencies across the state.
The first iCPD series was conducted in Bintulu earlier this year, and more sessions are planned in other divisions, including Samarahan, Bau, Lundu, Sri Aman, Betong, Kapit, Miri, Limbang, Lawas and additional locations.
What sets iCPD 2025 apart is its 50% fee subsidy, offered exclusively to eligible Sarawakian participants and SMEs, as part of MEITD’s support for professional development.
The programme operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and early registration is encouraged due to limited slots.
The recent certification ceremony was held at Chemsain’s auditorium and officiated by Anielia Siam, the deputy permanent secretary of MEITD, who presented certificates to the participants.
“This programme reflects MEITD’s continued commitment to building capacity and promoting industrial excellence in Sarawak,” said Anielia.
Upon completion of the training, participants are certified to serve as OSH Coordinators within their respective organisations, ensuring that workplace safety and health standards are upheld.
Chemsain HRD Sdn Bhd, an accredited training provider recognised by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), continues to actively deliver this programme across Sarawak.
The iCPD 2025 series is expected to impact Sarawak’s industrial ecosystem, reinforcing the importance of proactive safety measures and professional skills development across sectors.
