KUCHING: There is no need to use cheap political stunt by using the price of Petros’s liquified petroleum gas to gain public support, said PBB deputy Youth chief Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman in chiding Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen.

He said Chong as a former deputy minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), should have known better that the price of the PLG is set under controlled price item.

“As a former deputy minister of KPDNHEP, he should know that LPG is a price-controlled commodity, which means, it is subsidised and the selling price has been set by the federal government.”

Fazzrudin cynically said that resorting to play up the LPG price issue was intentionally orchestrated drama by Chong to stir up people’s sentiment.

“I think he just wants to create a sentiment that they are fighting for the rights of the people for it to be sold at a lower price.

“My advice to Chong is, maybe you can contact the officers at your former ministry to have a brief on the matter.

“He should check before making a statement,” said Fazzrudin.

The Tupong assemblyman also reminded that Petros was established as an avenue to fight for the rights of Sarawak on its oil and gas natural resource.

“Producing LPG is an effort by Petros to boost more revenue and income for the state government. And from this revenue and dividend, the state government can further develop our state which will benefit our people.

“Before we have our own LPG, the pioneer brands have accumulated so much profits for years. And the profits can only be enjoyed by those in Malaya,” he pointed out.

He reckoned that such attempt was used by DAP because its leaders were running out of capital.
