MAJLIS Amanah Rakyat (MARA) has postponed legal proceedings against actress Rozita Che Wan after confirming that they have received a partial payment of her overdue debt.
MARA chairman, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, stated that the agency had successfully secured RM550,000 of the outstanding amount last Friday. However, the remaining debt must be fully settled by the end of March.
“I have made it clear that MARA will not compromise in taking all necessary actions to recover every penny of public funds entrusted to us,” he said in a statement.
“This will ensure these funds can be used to assist others in dire need,” he added.
On December 10, MARA officials, accompanied by lawyers and court representatives, raided the entrepreneur’s residence following allegations of her failure to repay a loan amounting to nearly RM1 million.
It is understood that Rozita, also known as Che Ta, secured a loan from the agency in 2017 and had previously repaid only RM50,000.
MARA claimed that the planned auction of Rozita’s property was a last resort after numerous failed attempts to recover the outstanding debt.
Rozita had previously addressed the allegations on Instagram, denying claims that she had not repaid her MARA loan since 2017.
In an earlier post, she stated her intention to disclose the full truth in the future.
