KUALA LUMPUR: Perlis tennis player, Chaiyaward Pettani redeemed his disappointment after emerging as champion in the 16-year singles category in the first round of the 2019 Youth Tour Circuit at the National Tennis Centre, Jalan Duta, here.

Chaiyaward, who earlier only emerged as runner up in the doubles match, was, however, energetic when he trounced Sabah player Ryan Chee 6-0 and 6-0 yesterday.

‘’I partnered with Ariq Zayhin in the doubles match yesterday, losing to Cornelius Sia-Tan Lin En. So, I endeavour to do better today and I was more focused in the match.

‘’Despite facing Ryan for the first time, I think he is a talented player and can go much further. Maybe, I did better than him today,’’ he told the media after the match.

As the top player for the 16-year category, Chaiyaward also received an incentive from the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) to go to the Australia Open Grand Slam Championship.
