KUCHING: Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) Kuching has become the first institution in Malaysia to offer training on 5G Star Technology.
CENTEXS chief executive officer Syeed Mohd Hussein Wan Abdul Rahman said the first 5G equipment would be supplied by Huawei soon.
“The system will be implemented into the training we are offering. We are well-prepared in the implementation of 5G-related skills training in Malaysia.
“In fact, currently there is only one such facility in the whole Malaysia which is CENTEXS Kuching. The rest are offered by China,” he said.
He said this in a press conference after the launching of the Wireless and Microwave Hardware Installation Training at CENTEXS, Santubong on Monday (Mar 7).
Syeed added that currently, CENTEXS has six campuses in Sarawak, with full facilities and equipment only be available in Kuching.
He said CENTEXS Kuching would be facilitated with wireless, microwaves, data centres and other related needs.
“Thus, we want to provide a nearly complete facility for training and improvement in skills.
“At the same time, the said training would be important for those who are working in installations areas,” he said, adding that it will be a daunting and difficult process without proper training and knowledge.
He elaborated that the Wireless and Microwave Hardware Installation Training Programme will be conducted jointly with Huawei in improving the skills of all telecommunication employees as well as Huawei subcontractors.
“It is also a follow-up of the numerous tower projects that was re-implemented after the Covid-19 pandemic under the Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA).
“As of today (Mar 7), we have 14 participants from five telecommunication subcontractors under Huawei who are undergoing training at CENTEXS for five days until Mar 11,” he said.
