KUCHING: In a heartfelt celebration of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri, CENTEXS Commercial hosted its second annual ‘Takbir Raya’ recording programme today at the prestigious Juma’ani Pavilion.

The event, which began at 6.20 pm, featured the traditional recitation of the ‘Takbir Raya’ – an Islamic chant that marks the end of Ramadan and the arrival of Syawal.

This year’s recording saw participation from media outlets such as UKAS, Suara Sarawak and Sarawak Tribune, alongside several government-linked companies (GLCs), including MATRADE Sarawak, YADIM, Masjid Jamek and Baitulmal representatives.

A notable highlight was the endorsement from Sarawak’s Grand Imam, Datuk Mustapha Kamal, who emphasised the significance of such programmes in completing the Hari Raya celebrations.

He also recommended that the recording take place today, providing an ideal opportunity to gather representatives from various GLCs.

Beyond its religious and cultural essence, the initiative strengthens ties between CENTEXS Commercial, GLCs and the media while reinforcing CENTEXS Commercial’s commitment to community engagement beyond its commercial activities.

“Today is a special day for CENTEXS Commercial Sarawak as we collaborate with the media and our strategic partners, including MATRADE Sarawak, for this ‘Takbir Raya’ recording.

“We started this programme last year, and this marks our second year,” said CENTEXS Commercial Sarawak general manager Shahren Yusri to reporters.

“In addition to the recording, we are also showcasing the venue, a space dedicated to promoting Sarawak’s local heritage products.

“This initiative is not just about the recording itself but also about working together with the media and our partners to uphold and celebrate our traditions.”

The ‘Takbir Raya’ recording will be broadcast on the first day of Hari Raya and replayed for seven days throughout the festive period on platforms including UKAS, Suara Sarawak and CENTEXS Commercial.
