KUCHING: Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) Commercial Sarawak honoured entrepreneurs at its first Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration in recognition of their years of dedication and sales success.
CENTEXS Commercial Sarawak General Manager, Shahren Yusri, said that the event is an opportunity to engage and connect with vendors and entrepreneurs under CENTEXS Commercial as well as those under MATRADE Sarawak’s administration.
“These entrepreneurs are individuals we have supported since the early days of CENTEXS Commercial, with some having been with us from the very beginning.
“We organised this programme to celebrate their journey, and to recognise their commitment and achievements through appreciation awards.
“For the past five years, they have consistently produced local products that we have helped market both within Sarawak and beyond,” he said.
He said this when met with Sarawak Tribune during the CENTEXS Commercial and Matrade Sarawak’s Rona Warni Aidilfitri 2025 programme at Juma’ani Pavilion here today.

He added that the event also featured the presentation of five awards to entrepreneurs in different categories, based on their sales achievements.
One notable awardee, Kek Lapis Hamidah, was recognised for her layered cake sales, which reached an impressive RM367,000 in just six months.
The other awardees included Deservebarn, Usun Collections, Saranest, and Neng Kho Razali, each acknowledged for their unique contributions and strong business performance.
“That’s the kind of effort we are making to promote their products but what I want to emphasise is that we are committed to organising various programmes and creating multiple platforms to support Sarawakian entrepreneurs.
“So today, we’re giving them certificates as a form of recognition and we hope that, moving forward, more new entrepreneurs will come forward to seek support from CENTEXS Commercial in promoting their products.
“We hoped that what we’re doing benefits both new entrepreneurs and those who have been established for a while but are looking for help in marketing their products, which is what this event is all about,” he said.
Organised by CENTEXS Commercial in collaboration with MATRADE Sarawak, the event began around 10:30 am which feature nine entrepreneur booths and two food trucks.
“We invited around 200 guests for this event but we ended up having more than 200 attendees.
“And we have a popular food truck serving ‘suikang’ (ais kacang), and another dessert food truck offering ice cream while the rest are run by our other entrepreneurs,” he said.
He added that TVET students from Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah also joined the celebration.
“These TVET students are currently enrolled in our CENTEXS 5G installation training program for two months.
“It just started last week, so we invited them to attend,” he added.
