KUCHING: The Carnation Club of Kuching and Samarahan donated 12 rolls of link chairs to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) as part of its social welfare programme.

The handover, officiated by SGH director Dr Ngian Hie Ung, was held at the SGH lobby on Thursday (Jan 23).

“We are here today to donate 12 rolls of link chairs with 48 seats to SGH for the sitting comfort of patients and visitors.

“We hope this is the first step of the club’s social welfare programme,” Carnation Club of Kuching and Samarahan chairperson Magdalene Chong Ju Fong said to reporters after the handover.

“We intend to do more for the public in the future as we aim to offer care to others and to do social welfare work.

“This way, we can create public awareness of our club in the urban areas,” she added.

The Carnation Club of Kuching and Samarahan, established in 2008 as a support network for resilient single mothers, has been actively engaged in many programmes and activities.

Chong added that the club serves as a bridge between the government and village communities, sharing important messages and initiatives.

“Our club serves as a bridge to connect the government with the rural communities, sharing important messages and initiatives, such as family awareness programmes and addressing serious issues.

“Additionally, for secondary school students in rural areas, we have conducted awareness programmes focusing on issues such as teenage pregnancy and drug abuse.

“We are happy and proud to have carried out numerous activities, especially in rural areas, and we hope the public will support our cause,” she noted.
