MIRI: Women have been told to seize job and business opportunities offered by various government agencies during the two-day women’s career carnival held here.
Deputy Minister of Welfare Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Rosey Yunus said the two-day carnival held in conjunction with the Women’s Day celebration on March 8 was the best opportunity for job seekers badly affected by Covid-19, particularly women.
“I hope this carnival will be a platform for women to build new careers as well as help them earn a better income to have a better quality of life,” she said during the launching of the carnival at a shopping mall in Jalan Bintang here on Saturday.
A total 30 booths set up by 17 various government agencies and 11 employers are offering 1,000 job opportunities during the carnival.
This year Miri will host the State level Women’s Day celebration, she said, adding that it would be launched by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
