KUCHING: The bustling streets of select areas in Saradise were temporarily transformed into pedestrian-only zones, welcoming citizens to experience the city in a more sustainable manner this morning (Mar 23).

This was seen as the public took part in the Car Free Morning programme organised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng expressed his delight at seeing people coming together to make a difference.

Wee delivers his speech during the event.

“I think we have to play our role now, even as a small part of Borneo. We aim to demonstrate to people that we can take the lead,” he said.

He further elaborated on the choice of Saradise as the venue for the event, citing its popularity among health enthusiasts.

“Saradise is a hub of activity, consistently bustling with joggers and cyclists.

“This constant flow of eco-conscious individuals makes Saradise an ideal location to host such an event, aligning perfectly with the event’s theme of promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable living practices,” he said.
