KUCHING: The National Cancer Society of Malaysia Sarawak Branch has appealed to generous donors and well-wishers to financially support its palliative home care service for the needy.

According to an appeal letter from the society, the branch requires more than RM150,000 a year to provide this service.

It runs the palliative home care service in collaboration with the Radiotherapy and Oncology Unit (RTU) and Palliative Care Unit of the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

The service, which is free of charge, is provided by three palliative care nurses.

The society said to run the services, they also needed to, among others, loan hospital beds, wheel chairs and oxygen concentrators to terminally ill cancer patients who wish to spend the remaining days of their life with their family at home.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) donations are welcomed and tax-exempt receipts will be issued for donations of RM50 and above.

Donations can be sent directly to the society’s branch office at 287, Lot 2643 Central Park Commercial Centre, Jalan Rock, 93250 Kuching, Sarawak or banked in directly to their RHB Bank (Account number: RHB 21121250061883).
