KUCHING: The Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) is committed to ensuring the cleanliness and sustainability of rivers, particularly Sungai Bintangor, located in north Kuching.

Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said a campaign, the Clean Waterway Campaign 2024, has been organised to raise awareness and community involvement in maintaining river quality.

“The public, especially villagers along Sungai Bintangor, are encouraged to work together to keep the river free from pollution so it can serve as an example for other rivers across Sarawak.”

Dr Abdul Rahman said this while officiating the Plogging Walk and Clean Waterway Campaign 2024 at the parking area in Jalan Haji Taha, here, today (July 24).

The programme is one of the events organised by DBKU in conjunction with the 2024 Kuching City Cleanliness Month.

He added that DBKU also invites all municipal councils with rivers in their areas to take care of their respective rivers.
