KUCHING: Social Welfare Council of Sarawak (SWCS)’s call for more members and volunteers serves as an invitation to all, emphasising the collective responsibility in uplifting those in need.

“A call to action was made, appealing to individuals, especially the youth, to join our council and become volunteers. By engaging in our cause, they can actively champion the rights of the less fortunate in our society,” SWCS president Chi Poh Yung said during a press conference yesterday..

He was leading a delegation of exco members to pay a courtesy call on Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah at her office, Level 8, Baitulmakmur 2 Building here.

Apart from that, the visit aimed to present and discuss the council’s new projects, seeking valuable advice from Fatimah to enhance its initiatives.

“As a long-standing organisation with 75 years of service and a network of 45 member organisations across Sarawak, we are committed to addressing societal needs and fostering positive change,” he said.

During the meeting, the delegation took the opportunity to provide the ministry an insightful overview of their past activities and achievements, setting the stage for their future endeavours.

“In particular, we highlighted ongoing and upcoming projects that hold the potential to make a substantial impact on the community.

“Emphasising the importance of ministerial support, we conveyed our vision for these initiatives and how they align with the broader goals of the region,

“We extend heartfelt congratulations to the ministry for the successful implementation of the Community Social Support Centre (CSSC) project in Kuching,” he added.

The initiative has garnered positive responses, providing a temporary residence for individuals in need, allowing them to rebuild their lives.

“We acknowledged the commendable administrative efforts that contributed to this success.

“Moreover, we took the opportunity to convey our gratitude to the public for their support and encouraged greater involvement,” he added.
