SIBU: It is easier for the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to provide security services if Selangau and Stapang Police Station were placed under Sibu police.

This was suggested by Sibu Division Resident, Wong Hee Sieng when receiving a courtesy call from Sibu District Police Chief ACP. Zulkipli Suhaili at his office here yesterday.

According to Wong, currently the Selangau Police Station is under the Mukah District Police Headquarters (IPD) while the Stapang Police Station is under Dalat police.

“These two stations are very close to the Sibu IPD and it is easy for the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Sibu to provide security services in the event of a crime or serious threat,” he said.

Wong pointed out that it would not involve much costs if the two police stations were placed under the administration of the Sibu IPD.
“It was only to upgrade the posts of the members involved in the two stations in order to provide effective services to the local community,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wong greatly appreciated the role of PDRM, especially in the Sibu IPD, which had successfully carried out its duties in enforcing the law and maintaining order during the Covid-19 hit the country.

“Overall, I feel very proud and satisfied to be able to perform my duties and work with the Sibu IPD,” added Wong.

The latest standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the National Security Council (MKN) were also discussed during the visit.
