KUCHING: It is high time for delivery riders, especially food riders, to have an organisation of their own, said Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.
She said this when commenting on the late Yuhanis Abdullah, a delivery rider who died in an accident at Jalan Sultan Tengah last March 29.
“My advice to all food deliverers throughout Sarawak is to establish an organisation for themselves to take care of their welfare.
She said that such an organisation would give them a louder voice when dealing with the governmental authorities and society in general.
“Most of these riders are youngsters who face a lot of risks on the road daily,” she told reporters after meeting with the family of the late Yuhanis yesterday.
