KUCHING: The Sarawak Kajang Ethnic Community Association (PKEKS) is urging the Sarawak Native Customs and Traditions Council (c) to release its ‘Buku Adet Kajang’, which has been delayed for three years.

PKEKS special advisor Jay Jonoi Surai said that it is hightime for MAIS to officially release the book.

He said the book is an essential guide for community leaders to manage longhouses and a foundation to dignify the Kajang people in Sarawak.

“We are made to understand that the process surpasses the final stage and is at the point of officially releasing it as of now,” said Surai in the statement.

“All this time we have been using the Kayan Kenyah custom book as a guide, but there are some things that do not fit the context of the Kajang community.”

The Kajang community, an ethnic group in Sarawak, has been eagerly anticipating the release of the book, which they believe will provide a more accurate representation of their customs and traditions.

“Its delay has been a source of frustration for PKEKS, who are hoping that MAIS will take action to release the book as soon as possible,” added Surai.

In other development, PKEKS congratulated Bidah Lujah for being the first Orang Ulu Belaga woman to be appointed as the new Belaga District Officer. Surai praised this appointment as a positive step towards empowering women and the community in Belaga.
